Plus:  Released Today, Owen Roe Yakima Red 2010

Guardian Cellars winemaker Jerry ReinerWine Spectator Insider gave 93 points to Guardian Cellars’ flagship red, 2009 Gun Metal Red. It’s big, rich, and ready to drink. And it’s very limited – we expect it to sell out by the end of the day.

Speaking of big, rich and ready to drink, our go-to Washington red is released today: Owen Roe Yakima Red 2010!

Wine Spectator on Guardian Cellars Gun Metal: ‘Elegant and beautifully focused, glowing with black currant and blackberry favors that show hints of black olive and licorice, persisting seamlessly with deft balance into the long, expressive finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2021.” – H.S.

We’re so happy to see Guardian Cellars get the recognition they deserve. Like we’ve done with so many Northwest wines, we were there at the beginning, literally.

We were the first to support Gun Metal, sending the 2003 vintage to our wine club when it was under the Mark Ryan label! We’ve sent every vintage since to our Big Reds club, because it’s consistently great, with or without a big score.

425 cases produced. A blend of 60% Cabernet, 36% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc from Connor Lee Vineyard.

Owen Roe Yakima RedThe 2011 Owen Roe Yakima Red is deep purple in the glass, with a heady sweet cherry perfumed nose tinged with smoke. Velvety intense flavors of blueberries, cassis, and black cherries mingle with a hint of graphite. Supple and rich, the 2010 Yakima Red is ready to be enjoyed, with or without a big steak.

We all tried it and declared it “Smokin’! – it’s that good. – Jean

52% Cabernet Franc, 30% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon.
