Sparkling Wine: Minimus, R.C. Lemaire

If bubbles are just for celebrations, we should find a whole lot more reasons to celebrate! Seriously, there’s a common myth that Champagne and sparkling wine can only be enjoyed on “special occasions.”

Let’s dispel the myth: bubbles are possibly the most food-friendly wines and they’re the perfect glass to enjoy while cooking dinner. And…it’s time to celebrate!

Minimus #10 “24 Months” Oregon Sparkling Wine
$19.75 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($21.95 regular)
Rich with butter and apple notes to begin, adding Meyer lemon and a complex savory note on the finish. Superb value and a mere 100 cases made will make this fly in Portland. This would rock with a plate of cured meats.

“24 Months” refers to the amount of time en tirage (the process during which the wine is refermented and produces carbon dioxide). 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot gris from both 2010 and 2011 vintages. Technically an “Extra Brut” in terms of dryness.

Champagne R.C. Lemaire
Cuvée Trianon Brut NV

$31.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($34.95 regular)
An excellent value in grower Champagne. A refreshing combination of citrus, apple, and brioche with almond and mineral hints, with a creamy texture. Great for sipping, even better when paired with food – Champagne goes with almost anything, from light salads to grilled fish to popcorn with truffle oil.

Though R.C. Lemaire dates back to 1945, the wines were imported into the U.S. beginning in 2013. Cuvée Trianon is 60% Pinot noir and 40% Chardonnay from Premier Cru vineyards spread out over the Marne Valley.
