Washington Wine: Boisterous & Sophisticated Big Reds

I’m in love with two new wines. They’re both big reds, but personality wise, they’re about as different as you can get.

The boisterous one makes me want to dance. It’s a get off your butt and show your moves kind of wine. The sophisticated one makes me want to… well, I can’t say it here.  But you can guess.

The Boisterous:
Angel Vine Primitivo 2010
$19.75 in any 12 bottle order or build a case
($21.95 retail)
A spunky and exuberant Washington red with a boisterous personality. So easy to love, it’s all about the fruit – cherry, raspberry, strawberry, and plum, with a dark earthy note adding depth. Primitivo is genetically equivalent to Zinfandel.

The Sophisticated:
Ellanelle Walla Walla Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
$32.80 in any 12 bottle order or build a case
($36.45 retail)
Elegant, balanced, impeccable. Glass staining dense purple color. A heady swirl of classic Walla Walla Cabernet Sauvignon – sophistication and heft combined. Creamy black cherry and a “pop” of red cherry in a lush fruit conserve tinged with licorice, and sweet oak. Supple and smooth, finishes with lingering black fruit and earth. Delicious right out of the bottle or cellar for a few years. A real find, highly recommended.

I think you’ll love these two reds – one for casual, one for dress, both delicious.
