2008 Vintage Tasting Notes

2008 Wine Spectator - 93 points - Lithe, silky and gorgeously proportioned, this plays out its floral and spice-accented cherry, cassis and mineral flavors gracefully, with harmony and depth to spare. Drink now through 2020. - H.S.

Lushly silky and caressing. The Vintage Select shows a flavor profile I love - licorice-infused black cherry, mixing with cream and hint of caramel and a burst of freshness on the finish that holds your attention for what seems like minutes...and it doesn't matter how long it was because you're thinking about wine! - Marcus

Here it is, our flagship wine, our piece de resistance, the “Vintage Select” Pinot Noir. We are very excited to be able to present to you this incredible wine. Intense aromas of cherry, blackberry, spice and vanilla surge from the glass. One sip reveals incredible richness--ripe fruit, rich and expansive--which fills the mouth yet the texture is smooth as silk. Balancing all, is a firm tannic structure suggesting a long life ahead. As wonderful as this wine is now, it will only be more glorious in the future. - the winery

2007 Vintage Tasting Notes

Here's the story: wine writers and critics generally panned Oregon's 2007 vintage. Do I blame them for being short-sighted? Kind of. Because those of us who live and breathe Oregon Pinot knew that for the most part, the critics were wrong. Now, several years later, the curse is slowly being lifted from Oregon's 2007 vintage. Why? Because a lot of 07's, like Witness Tree's Vintage Select, are tasting fantastic right now, and there are killer deals to be had.

Savory red cherry with a woodsy note, opening to a beautiful array of crushed red berries on the palate. It deepens towards the finish, picking up blackberry and hints of caramel and spice. A great wine for drinking today, it could also hang out in your cellar for another couple years. - Marcus

Winemaker Steven Westby says: "black fruit and vanilla, rich and expansive, silky smooth."
