Woodhouse Family Cellars "Darighe" 00
winery: Woodhouse Family Cellars
Tiny production of this cult red from Yakima- very limited.
From the winery: "The 2000 Vintage has a predominantly Cabernet base, giving it more of a muscular structure than previous years. The ranting and raving has just begun, and it is delivering above and beyond expectations!"![]()
MORE INFORMATION
From the winery: The 2000 Darighe is a Bordeaux blend made up of 42% Cabernet, 25% Malbec, 16.5% Merlot, and 16.5% Petit Verdot containing 13.5% alcohol by volume of 750ml. Its flavors burst forward with blackberry, cassis, coffee bean, tobacco leaf, eucalyptus and a hint of bittersweet chocolate. It has been aged for two years in 90% French Oak (80% New, 20% 1-Year-Old Barrels) and 10% New American Oak. Darighe is a wine reminiscent of the Old World, with classic Washington earth tones, soft tannins, and a refreshing acidity which lingers in the finish.
Just as tempting as what's in the bottle is the bottle itself, creating a cult wine clamor. The winemaker selected a pricey bottle and cork to serve as a chic backdrop to the Celtic inspired label and logo (a tribute to his wife, Sinead). Some of Seattle's most wine-savvy restaurants are currently pouring Darighe, including Dulces Latin Bistro, Wild Ginger and El Gaucho.
